Yet Xiao Mohan dismisses Su Qingyue’s sacrifices, including kneeling for three days to save his life. When border reports confirm her death, he collapses in denial. In her final hours, Su Qingyue burns mementos of their love, including a hairpin he gifted her. Xu Wan’er sets her room ablaze, and though Xiao Mohan rushes in, he chooses to “save” Xu Wan’er instead. Su Qingyue, realizing his love is lost, writes a farewell letter and vanishes.
